Back to basics guide - PDF to Excel

If you look at the image below, the top section shows what typically happens when you try to copy data from a PDF into Excel. You spend ages separating and formatting it.

What you need to do instead is click on the Data tab in Excel, click on Get Data, From File, From PDF.

Excel then allows you to pick what data to import, and it formats it correctly. By also using Macros and automation, you can convert a slow manual process into a slick automated one.

Note, you will need to convert the "numbers" from text to numeric using the warning triangle.
